What makes our practice a great place to work?
The two-mile pebbled beach and clear blue waters just minutes away?
Unspoilt countryside on the edge of town?
Or the charming town centre with cream teas and ice cream?
As wonderful as it this all sounds – there is something more special …
… and that is our staff. They are the heart and soul of this practice and together as a team we provide a supportive working environment where everyone has a voice.
At Budleigh, we pride ourselves in putting family first – when you work with us, you will never miss those precious one off moments – whether it is a first nativity play or a graduation or grandma's 80th birthday – we will always make it possible.
And this is what make our practice a great place to work!
Why work with us?
We have a strong track record for supporting our trainees and new GPs. Brian Taylor joined our practice as an ST3 in 2014 and he liked it so much that he accepted a position as a salaried GP before joining as a partner. Similarly, Joe Bailey joined our practice as an
ST3 in 2017 and after a year as a salaried GP he became our newest partner in 2020.
Whether you are starting out on your GP journey or you are an experienced GP looking for a new challenge in a new practice, Budleigh Salterton Medical Centre will offer you the opportunity and the support to develop and flourish in your special interest.
Communication is key and important to how we work - every Tuesday morning our doctors and the managers meet for an hour to discuss patient cases, new cancer diagnoses, safeguarding concerns, new services etc – and every day at 2.30pm we encourage our doctors to meet for a "coffee and chat".
We recognise that general practice is a challenging and dynamic environment but this is what makes it exciting and we are constantly changing the way we work and developing our clinical and administrative skills to meet the demands of a modern GP Practice and we welcome new ideas and challenges.
As one of our 7 GPs you will be supported by a team of 2 practice nurses, 3 health care assistants, 2 practice managers, an office manager and a team of administrators and receptionists.
We are a team that respects, supports and understands each other, working together to deliver a service of clinical and administrative excellence with patients at its heart.
You will be a valued member of our team and we will offer a competitive salary, 6 weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays, study leave, NHS pension and indemnity insurance.
Our Primary Care Network (PCN)
We are part of the Woodbury, Exmouth and Budleigh (WEB) PCN which is a group of 6 East Devon GP practices with a long history of working together to deliver integrated primary care services across our combined population of over 51,000 patients.
Together, we have established a range of services and new roles to help support our practices and our patients with the introduction of practice based pharmacists, first contact physiotherapists, a frailty care home support team, a mental health & wellbeing team and young person’s mental health services.
Our Mission
To provide a flexible, efficient and empathetic service which will enhance the quality of life of individuals in our local community through the efficient use of all health care resources available.
Each staff member’s visions are important to us, and we feel that visions will develop and evolve over time, and new ones will appear as our dynamic organisations changes and new services are introduced and when new staff join us.
